Uk Box office admissions 2009

UK cinema admissions are the highest since 2002 totalling 173.5 Million admissions throughout the UK in 2009.

This increase first started with an 8% increase in January admissions over 2008 and was help throughout the year via the release of some outstanding and BAFTA winning films such as the controversial Slumdog Millionaire and a surprise hit comedy The Hangover which were helped throughout the year with franchised films such as Terminator salvation and Transformer: Revenge of the Fallen and also the sixth instalment to the Harry Potter series Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince.

Here is a table to show you the top 20 UK films this year, based upon the amount of admissions throughout the UK.

Within this wide range of Genres of films Harry Brown is the only film that has a close significance to our genre of film psychological-crime thriller. But this doesn't mean our film would not be popular with the British public because Harry Brown was still consumed in UK cinema's by 4.54 Million people and this is a very high figure which may be increased if more films of this genre were introduced.

This secondary research is a great guideline for when we could release our film as if there is a limited amount of films of our genre being released in upcoming weeks then it may be a good time to release it then because this could fill the niche in the film listings.
